About New Haven, KY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

New Haven is a Nelson County city with approximately 880 residents. Originally known as Pottinger’s Landing, New Haven was founded in 1781, and it was given its current name in 1819. The Commonwealth incorporated New Haven as a city in 1839, and during the Civil War the community was occupied by Union forces. When the war ended, New Haven was most well known for being a center for the liquor trade, with numerous large distilleries located within a short distance. However, the population of the community quickly fell after Prohibition was put into law in 1919.

New Haven is home to a few notable attractions and things to see despite the small size of the city. The Kentucky Railway Museum is found here, and it features six diesel locomotives, four steam locomotives, and over 100 pieces or rolling stock. The Abbey of Our Lady of Gethesmani is located here, which was the home of the famous monk Thomas Merton.  There are also several restaurants found in the community, including New Haven Pizza Shoppe, Sherwood Inn, and Howie’s Family Restaurant.

The New Haven area is situated within a humid subtropical climate zone. The area features four distinct seasons, starting the year off in January with a cool to cold winter. While the area will only see about a foot of snow, on average, ice and sleet are common, an freezing temperatures are highly likely, especially overnight. Without a proper heating system at home, interior conditions could become quite dangerous, and plumbing and pipework could freeze. The end result could be costly repairs and uncomfortable living conditions.

Summers in New Haven require climate controls of a different sort. It is quite common for temperatures to reach the mid to upper 90s, and with hazy and humid conditions, it can be extremely uncomfortable without a central air conditioning unit at home. When these units are serviced properly, not only will they help to keep interior climates cool, but they can also help utility bills to stay affordable.
