About Trappist, KY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Trappist is a small community located in Nelson County, Kentucky, and it is located just outside of New Haven. Trappist is most well-known for being the home of the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani, more commonly known as the Trappists. This monastery was founded in 1848 and was raised to an abbey three years later. It is considered to be the mother home of all Trappistine monasteries in the U.S., and it is the oldest monastery that is still operational.

The monks at the Trappists live a life of work and faithful prayer. The monastery is located on a 2,000 acre farm, and the monks support themselves and the compound via its store – Gethsemani Farms. This store offers handmade cheeses, fudge, and fruitcake. Their bourbon fudge is the most popular option, containing four year old, 100 proof Jim Beam Bourbon.

The weather in Trappist is typical of a humid subtropical climate zone, meaning that residents will experience four distinct seasons throughout the year. While this makes the area a beautiful place to visit during all seasons, it is important that residents take precautions to stay safe at home. During the winter months, average low temperatures in January will fall to the mid-20s or even colder. When combined with precipitation like sleet and ice, conditions indoors and outdoors could both become dangerous, so it is important to stay warm at home with an efficient furnace.

During the summer months, conditions can become hot and humid, and there are many days in which temperatures exceed 90 degrees. With high humidity levels that are typical of a humid subtropical climate zone, the area can feel even warmer, so residents will appreciate having a cool place to hide out on the hottest days. A regularly serviced, energy efficient air conditioning unit can provide just that.
